Friends in New England

Esther, whose love and grace has won my heart,
Has been a pal from the very start.

Helen, so close and near,
She may get married this year?

Hattie, a precious lady, oh so frail,
Who prays for all without fail.

Grace, in all her winsome way,
Has won a place in my heart to stay.

Bertha, so loving and so kind,
A more joyful person you'll never find.

Pearl always has a listening ear,
A prayer partner who is so dear.

Marguerite, so keen and so rare,
A master of the art of prayer!

Ainslie, going about in her wheelchair,
Doing her good works everywhere.

Hazel talks, but is meek and mild,
Loving and trusting as a little child.

Marion so demure and sweet,
She's a baker that's hard to beat.

Mary Bell our pastor's wife,
A gracious lady, a dedicated life.

Ernestine, an organist supreme,
Kind and gentle, she's the cream.

Sandy, a quoir director superb!
Cheerful, joyful, no one can disturb!

Helen who I learned to care,
We all need friends with whom to share.

Dorothy, a recent friend with warmth and smile,
Has helped to make life worth-while.
